Dear readers,
hello! It is March 1 & let me start by talking about money. It has been a year since some of you paid for my newsletter last year, I think I made Rs 90,000 through it. That’s pretty much all I made last year. SO THANK YOU! This year has been marginally different because my books are being translated into other languages, I worked with a few brands, so some money has trickled in. This year, I have told myself that I will be financially stable and also get myself an office space, so I can make this distinction between my bed and work desk and I need your support. You can support my work by paying towards my newsletter. I am looking for at least 250 folks to pay towards it. It is at 15 dollars which is about Rs. 1250, if you’d like to pay more, please feel free. If you have trouble paying, please get in touch with me.

This newsletter has art activities, news about art activities I have planned for this month (online (Instagram + newsletter and zoom) and offline) and a comic I made about pleasing my inner child.
For starters, I am doing this on Sunday. Please let your friends in Mumbai know. It feels good to pay whatever I make through this to my parents for living in their house. So please help me meet the 20 people I have kept this open to.
Before getting into the other art activities, I want to share the comic:

Moving onto the art activities, please scroll all the way down if you want an activity to do at home this weekend. But first for the paid activities>
March 10: A walk in your shoes, will be a zine making activity that I will conduct online where folks will reflect on their lives and will turn that into a zine. You could email me on indu14@gmail.com. It will be at 12 pm IST. Please put A Walk In Your Shoes (Online) in the subject.
March 16 (Mumbai) : In Dil Garden Garden Ho Gaya, folks will bring scraps of cloth, old t-shirts, bedsheets to turn them into a rug they can sit on.
March 20 (Delhi), Dil Garden Garden Ho Gaya, where folks will bring scraps of cloth, old t-shirts, bedsheets to turn them into a rug they can sit on.
March 30 happens to be Van Gogh’s birthday, so I will be doing an online and offline activity around those days, where we will make our version of Van Gogh’s painting, Sunflowers. I am thinking of doing The Starry Night on one of the days but I am not sure as of now. Here’s what I made.
Making handmade art is so calming.
Now for the activity you could try at home. This month, in this newsletter and my Instagram stories, I'll be exploring the work of women artists, focusing on pieces that serve both as soothing expressions and playful inspirations.
This week, we'll look at the work of Sonia Delaunay, co-founder of the Orphism art movement known for its vibrant hues and geometric forms.
Here’s how I played with some circles and colours.
Let me know if you try this.
I also have been picking all sorts of round things from the streets. It took me a while to be okay to pick up these things off the street. Now that I feel okay, I am hoping to get some more because the streets are bountiful and one could use some of these things, dip them in paint and print. I am going to do that.
That’s it. I will be announcing my next people powered project that aims to study Indian masculinity next week. If you know of places I could look for funding, please hit me up. Also, if you have contacts at foreign consulates in India who you could introduce me to and who could potentially fund my work, I’d be grateful.
You can pay for this newsletter, here.
