A recommendation and a request
Dear reader,
Hello! I hope you are good. Instagram asked me if I would like to stop limiting comments and I thought it had been more than a week since my trolling began and people would have gotten a life, but I was wrong. As soon as I opened my comments, people started to comment again. So I have gone back to limiting comments.
Anyway, in the post, I had asked if Malayalam cinema does enough films on gender (yeah, I have watched The Great Indian Kitchen, etc) and today I have a movie to recommend. It is on Amazon Prime and is called Aattam. I watched it in the theatre in January and feel it should be mandatory viewing for gender studies students, if not everyone. Here’s what I made as a fan who thinks more people should watch this film.
Many years ago, we got ourselves The Essential Kerala Cookbook by Vijayan Kannampilly. We really loved the book. My sister once told me that a fan of the book saw someone had put the whole book online and informed Vijayan. That’s the kind of fan I am about Aattam though it is so real that it makes you sad. Also as a first film, it is a brilliant film.
Now that the recommendation is over, I have a request. I am doing Art With Indu this weekend. Here’s the poster, if you are in Mumbai, come. If you have friends in Mumbai, ask them to come. If you are on twitter, please RT this. if you are on Instagram, please like and share this.
I also made this for a friend
.Moving on, I have decided to stall my masculinity project and will probably only start it in April. But while being trolled, I was reminded of this conversation and made this:
That’s it but before I go I want to thank that one person who paid towards my newsletter. I will keep all that I share open to free subscribers but I need at least 250 people to pay for this newsletter for me to have some kind of income. Please support me by clicking here and paying towards my work.
Have a good weekend.
